Please note that most, if not all, of the settings below are not the Zoom default: Meeting Guide syncs with area, district, intergroup/central offices and international general service office websites, relaying meeting information from more than 400 A.A. Download the Official AA Meeting Guide App and use the filters to sort by 'SECULAR'. Here are some suggested settings for your meeting to use. There are many AA meetings that identify as 'SECULAR' you just have to know where to find them. There are other settings in the Meeting subtab that can also be adjusted, such as disallowing remote control of devices, file transfer, data sharing with Zoom, and screen sharing. The default Zoom settings run counter to AA’s spiritual foundation of anonymity. The first online AA group, Lamp-lighters, was formed in 1990, and has met by email continuously since then. Email groups started forming in the early nineties and the development of the worldwide internet rapidly fueled the growth and variety of groups. These have been curated from the membership and online resources. The first AA meetings online used Bulletin Boards and were around 1986. Now that online meetings are accessible, we want to pass on best practices for protecting anonymity.
